Departing from Akureyri our Super truck takes us first to Go\u00f0afoss \u201cWaterfall of the Gods\u201d one of Iceland\u2019s most beautiful waterfall, here we will take our time to enjoy the waterfall and learn a little of its interesting history.<\/p>\n
We will continue on to the magical Lake M\u00fdvatn. Once there we will drive \u201coff the beaten track\u201d to reach the old crater L\u00fadent where we will enjoy the incredible view from its rim over the surrounding area, before enjoying a 2-course lunch at a local restaurant. At the Lake M\u00fdvatn area, we will explore selected attractions and photo stops.<\/p>\n
As our journey continues we drive through a remote health and valley until we reach B\u00e1r\u00f0ardalur Valley, where Skj\u00e1lfandaflj\u00f3t River \u2013 a white glacial river originating from Vatnaj\u00f6kull glacier, (the largest ice cap in Iceland) runs down the valley. It runs across the highlands, carving out magnificent riverbeds on its way. Situated at the edge of the Highlands we find the breathtaking Aldeyjarfoss Waterfall, where whitewater cascades from a high cliff into a ravine lined with black basalt columns.<\/p>\n
From the waterfall, we\u2019ll drive down the valley and towards Akureyri, on the way, we will drive through a birch and flowered covered area named Vaglask\u00f3gur forest. Here we\u2019ll take a brief photo stop and enjoy the sounds of birds singing and leaves rustling if wanted.<\/p>\n
